I read BERNAMA today, this news impressed me a lot. And make me smile

BACHOK, March 26 (Bernama) — A privately run science and technology college, Kolej Islam Sains & Teknologi (KIST), here is setting up a driving academy at its campus here to make it easier for students to obtain their driving licence.

KIST advisory board member Roomai Nor Ali said the driving academy would be opened in June.

“This will be helpful for students as by the time they graduate, they will also get their driving licence,” he told Bernama here today.

He said KIST, set up in 2005, now offered 10 diploma courses, including nursing, medical assistant, sports science, medical information technology, health and environment and psychology. ~ Credited from BERNAMA

Finally KISTAA will be opened soon I still remember on December 4, 2009. I went to Company Commission of Malaysia (CCM) or Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) at second floor of Kota Sri Mutiara Building in Kota Bharu to request for a name search for KIST Aviation Academy Sdn Bhd, bringing Form 13A, approval letter from the holding company and the fees. A week after that, we got the result where the proposed name has been rejected due the term “AVIATION“.

“AVIATION” is a  term that has been gazetted and we must get an approval from the minister in order to use it. [Pursuant to Sections 22(1) and 341(1) of the Companies Act 1965, the Minister directs the Registrar of Companies not to accept for registration any name of a company or a foreign company that is a name or a name of kind mentioned in the Schedule unless prior approval of the Minister has been obtained].

Then, another name suggested. That was KIST Accelerate Academy Sdn Bhd. (KISTAA) ~ CCM also rejected that proposed name because there is another existing company with a similar name, KISTA (similar name is not allowed by CCM).

So, KIST management decided to use the name that initially proposed, Kist Aviation Academy Sdn Bhd. Then they held a meeting with Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) in KL. DCA approved it. F13A submitted for the third time. Finally, the proposed name,  CCM approved. It took about two month to get the name for that aviation academy. 3 Form 13A submitted, two rejection and a bit headache. Btw, its normal for a request for availability of name.

You may noticed that I am talking about its name only. haha coz then (a few week after the name approved) I decided to transfer to another company. Not more involved in the formation of that aviation academy or company secretarial duty. I closed my two month log book. Two month experience with a company secretary. KISTAA is one of the company that has been set up when I was there. At least I learnt about company secretarial duties.
