I have been in accommodation services since early 2007, more than three years. I started to manage a guest house when I was 20, when I was studying in Accountancy at UiTM Machang. That guest house is not belong to me, it belong to my father. Then we added a few houses due to demand, then the competition started when more and more new entrants in this market. And buyer bargain become high. It is like a trend in business. There is a first mover, second mover and third mover. I don’t know in which category I entered, but I am not the third mover or the first mover.
I realized the same things always happen, most of the reservation will be made by phone, and most of my guest will call me either “Kak” or “Mak Cik” or “Puan” or “Mrs”, until they come and see me. And some of them asked, “Is it your business?” “Do your business is financed by bank?” And they looked deeply on my face when I said all the houses are not financed by any bank institution. Thanks to UiTM for giving me a very good lesson on money management.
And today…I start thinking to have a backpacker hostel or house which is mainly targeted for backpackers. It will be in Kota Bharu, a few minutes drive from our existing guest houses. Very close to the city center.
We have a house under renovation at this moment. A malay traditional house in Berek 12. The location is very strategic. Berek 12 is the most popular place for foods in Kelantan where you can find many popular local restaurants here. Very close to the market, schools, bus station, 24 hours convenient store, hospital, clinics, workshop and etc. All that are just within walking distance.
It is raining when I write this post. Heavy rain.. Renovation process takes a long time because of weather and expected to complete in January 2010. After that we can start to put all the furnitures. And, if necessary, maybe should install videosurveillance outside the house. But not that easy to find a good supplier or company sells and installs video surveillance equipment in my neighborhood area. So many things come in my mind. I am thinking about the house name (maybe will use Anjung KB if there is no objection from my parent), the interior design, and the facilities to provide, and the rate to charge. The most important is marketing and how long it will take to break even. Oh god, please help me.

It’s been quite some time since I last checked this site. I think it was during the Manek Urai by-elections. Anyway, I have to say that your site provides added depth and quality to Kelantan Bloggers. Most of the blogs are personal or/and political, so your stands out since it deals with a unique subject. Keep on writing. And good luck running your projects.
P/S: I should make a confession – “that person” who mentioned this site in the newspaper report during the by-elections… Okay, that’s my byline there:-) But I’m no longer with it (for the time being) since I’m pursuing something else.
thanks a lot for your nice opinion. well.. this blog has so many changes since then, from its templates…contents and so on. i do hope i can proceed with this project..plus another 20 days delay because i have to attend a 20 days camp on investment in kuala lumpur on january. btw your blog is great!
The blog is great.. Which one? – I have two. This one at Blogspot isn’t to be taken too seriously – it’s political. Sometimes I purposely write provocative posts and the more emotional will come and attack me. Fine, I’ll just attack them back heheh. I can swing to support any side when I feel like it:-)
But the other blog at WordPress – Recovery from Drug Addiction – this one I place 100 times more value despite the lower Page Hits. I had intended the Blogspot one to be a source of income while Recovery is for spiritual purposes. Strangely, the latter has brought a lot more money *indirectly* than what I had planned! It proves that “Manusia hanya boleh merancang, Tuhan yang Menentukan”.
BTW someone at Kelantan Bloggers Chat http://zafablog.blogspot.com/ suggested *someone* start a Facebook Group for bloggers in/from Kelantan. Err, why not YOU start it?
I mean your blogspot blog. Facebook for kelantan bloggers? Good idea. I will invite you once it is created. Thanx
Okay, GREAT! I have ideas but am usually too lazy to implement them. I’ll also help you to publicise/announce it at FB and also at the blogs when it’s created.
Here’s something that I had thought of about the Facebook Group, if it might be of help to you:
Untuk “Kelantan Bloggers Facebook Group”, saya cadangkan kita buat gini:
1) Guna prinsip seperti Kelantan Bloggers –
Yeah! Thanks a lot for your good idea! The group has been created and I invite you to be among the administrators. Here is the link http://bit.ly/kel-blogger
